Computer Department

This Directorate is saddled with the responsibility of producing and monitoring the State Manpower Database and production of monthly salary payroll. In order to meet these responsibilities, there is a Computerization Committee chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry with a representative from the Nigeria Labor Congress that scrutinizes records before inputting into the database. Their members include representative from Tertiary Institution Academic and Non-Academic, Health Institutions, Yobe State University and all Directors from Ministry of Finance.

As at January, 2017 the State had a staff strength of 29,159 on its payroll with a total salary of N1,580,642,769.31 and other allowances, Salaries and Part Time Members, Casual Workers of Health and Environment, Ulamas, Yobe Islamic Centre, AISEB, Student Nurses, MDG-UBE, Sport Council / Yobe Desert Stars and Emirate Council Amounting to N82,170,502.43. The total salaries therefore stands at N1,662,813,271.74

No major projects were undertaken by the Directorate from May 2011 to date except the upgrading of the central computer system to meet the current expansion and modernization of the payroll and biometric system. Presently, the upgrading of the biometric system software with new software which have the capacity of using 10 finger prints in detecting employee and possibly help in enhancing the nominal roll of the State Civil Service have reached an advance stage. All employees from various MDAs have been captured with the exception of public office holders and pension. The Directorate has staff strength of 15.
